چکیده

The Culex pipiens mosquito (Diptera: Culicidae) is highly suspected to be the vector responsible for spread of several parasitic and viral diseases. use synthetic insecticides generally preferred method controlling these mosquitoes’ proliferation. However, it has led resistance problems in target mosquitoes environmental damage. Hence, diverse plant extracts could considered as an alternative potential source control agents. In this study, essential oils Lavandula angustifolia subsp. dentata spp. that are growing Morocco were examined their insecticidal effects on larvae. bioassay was performed according a methodology inspired by standard protocol World Health Organization. mortality rate determined after 24 hours exposure, probit regression analysis used calculate LC50 LC90. chemical revealed principal compounds L. include linalool, linalyl acetate, geraniol, lavandulyl camphor, β-caryophyllene, terpinen-4-ol, β-myrcene, 1,8-cineole, while oil mainly composed α-pinene, trans-pinocarveol, borneol. These volatile have shown toxic effect against larvae, with lethal concentrations LC90 being, respectively, 140 µg/ml 450 µg/ml, oil. Meanwhile, they estimated at 2670 7400 results suggest using two species mosquito. It useful study new natural larvicidal compounds.

Larvicidal Activity of Nerium oleander against Larvae West Nile Vector Mosquito Culex pipiens (Diptera: Culicidae)

Background. Outbreaks of the West Nile virus infection were reported in Morocco in 1996, 2003, and 2010. Culex pipiens was strongly suspected as the vector responsible for transmission. In the North center of Morocco, this species has developed resistance to synthetic insecticides. There is an urgent need to find alternatives to the insecticides as natural biocides. Objective. In this work, the...
